Action A4 Development of a protocol for the vegetative propagation of the target species

In the two current populations multiplication sexed is ineffective, probably due to the state of triploidy, ie the species has three chromosomes for each type instead of the usual two. Therefore, the reproduction of the species through propagation in-vitro and in-vivo techniques (as woody and herbaceous cuttings, axillary buds and apical leaf tissues) is the priority action for the conservation of the project.

To this purpose a specific protocol for propagation will be developed in the laboratories of the CNR-IGV (supported by the CBNB), according to previous experience on the species.

The CNR-IGV coordinate the action supported by the CBNB; activities will be held during the first 24 months of the project.
